PANGASINAN police director P/Sr. Supt. Sterling Raymund Blanco, has called for stronger assistance and cooperation among line agencies to prevent juvenile delinquencies.

During the Pangasinan Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPPOC) meeting last June 6, Blanco disclosed that there are 55 children in-conflict with the law (CICL) cases were recorded in the first five months of this year.

Most were involved in theft and rape.

“This should be a multi-agency concern especially for the DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development) and even the DepEd (Department of Education) because it should start in schools,” remarked Blanco.
He underscored the importance of information campaigns in schools, especially on illegal drugs and sex education, should be strengthened.

In the vein, he said that proper counselling of arrested youth suspects by DSWD is equally important.—Johanne R. Macob
