57 students chosen for “Manlingkor Ya Kalangweran”
HIGH school students from different public and private secondary schools comprise this year’s Manlingkor ya Kalangweran who will serve as city officials starting June 20, the commemoration of Agew na Dagupan.
The 57 students who will lead Dagupan for a week underwent a leadership training at the Teacher’s Hall on June 11 to prepare them for their duties as public servants.
At the training, Mayor Belen Fernandez promised the students that she will implement every resolution that they will pass during their tour of duty as members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
Angelica ‘Dawn’ Coquia of the National Youth Commission and City Director Rhoderick M. Dawis, meanwhile, inspired the students more on how to become effective leaders.
The students will elect from among themselves who will be the mayor, vice-mayor and councilors. The rest will be appointed as department heads and heads of the different national government agencies operating in the city. (CIO/JCB)
