Notorious gun-for-hire arrested
AGENTS of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) caught on Wednesday a notorious gun-for-hire allegedly being coddled by a town mayor in Pangasinan at his home in Barangay Pisuac, Urbiztondo.
P/Sr. Supt. Francisco Esguerra, CIDG regional chief, identified the suspect as Johany Vedaña alias “Bossing”, 32, who was arrested based on a warrant of arrest issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Rednato Pinlac of Branch 57 in San Carlos City.
The CIDG, however, declined to identify the mayor reportedly protecting Vedaña.
Esguerra said the suspect was caught with a caliber 45 pistol and a grenade when the CIDG’s Anti-Organized Crime Team and Pangasinan policemen raided the suspect’s house at 5:30 a.m.
Vedaña is in the CIDG list as one of the members of the “Vistro Goup” engaged in gun-for-hire activities operating in the 2nd and 3rd districts of Pangasinan.
The group is the number two target of Pangasinan-CIDG under Coplan “Tirador”.
Vedaña has been charged with violation of Republic Act 8294 or illegal possession of firearms. (LVM)
