LINGAYEN– The once decrepit and inefficient Pangasinan Provincial Hospital (PPH) is now one of the flagships of the provincial government certified to be operating on internationally-accepted system and policies.

It was recently issued the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2008 certification as proof.

On May 8, 2014, the Certification International Philippines Inc. (CIPI) represented by its managing director Renato Navarrete presented the certification to Governor Amado Espino Jr. and PPH chief of hospital Dr. Policarpio Manuel.

CIPI, an ISO-accredited certifying body, conducted the audit of the PPH to determine if the hospital has complied with all the requirements of the ISO on quality management system.

Navarrete commended the hospital’s “very consistent and coherent performance targets, focused on what internal and external customers expect.”

According to Manuel, they spent two years preparing to earn the certification that included the hiring of consultants from the Development Academy of the Philippines to help plan for their ISO-accreditation.

“The ISO 9001:2008 is proof that the hospital is capable of delivering efficient service, Manuel said.

Governor Amado Espino Jr. credited PPH’s latest achievement to the employees’ professionalism and cooperation.

He said, “The ISO certification affirms what the hospital’s patients see and feel while being served by their government and its staff,”

The governor vowed to support all initiatives that will deliver quality services to the public.

The provincial government’s administrative and support services also earned and the Provincial Health Office also recently earned an ISO certification.

The improvements and upgrading of all 14 provincial and controlled government- hospitals have translated into increased number of patients from only 74,207 in 2007 to 378,332 in-patients in 2013.
