BSP officials laud Pangasinan for hosting National Venture Camp
LINGAYEN–Senior Vice President and Acting-Secretary General of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) Wendel Avisado lauded the provincial government of Pangasinan led by Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. for hosting the 6th National Scout Venture Camp at the Capitol beachfront, here.
During the Camp Chief’s Night (Governor’s Fellowship Night) held at the Sison Auditorium on May 5, Avisado expressed BSP’s gratitude to the officialdom of the province for the very warm hospitality and accommodation extended to 3,000 participants of the national scout venture which was held May 5-10.
“Alalahanin natin ang tunay na puso ng mga Pangasinense — marunong magmahal at kumilala ng mga kapatid tulad ng mga scouts. Makakaasa tayo na habang tayo ay nandirito, we are in good hands,” Avisado said, adding that the BSP will “always treasure the love and goodness of Pangasinenses.”
“When we talk of image, we talk about name, brand and product – and Pangasinan is lucky to have all these three in one. The province is in good hands with Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr., the image of the province,” he added.
Espino, in response, proudly noted: “All that happened in the province under my leadership in the past seven years are attributed to my being a boy scout.”
“I fully believe and subscribe to the ideals of the BSP, as I consider the scouting movement as the best organization school children should engage in,” the governor averred.
The provincial chief executive bared his plan to establish a “permanent camp in the province for the BSP” and exhorted legislators to include again the scouting and the ROTC (Reserve Officers Training Corps) in the curriculum of schools.
“I’ve been helping the scouting movement even I was in military service and until now through my partners in the DepEd — Schools Division Superintendents Viraluz Raguindin and Alma Ruby Torio and Executive Assistant IV Ramon Morden, Regional Public Relations Commissioner of the BSP,” the governor said.
Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim, Jr, on the other hand, encouraged the participants to try the mouthwatering delicacies and visit the tourist destinations in the province.
The fellowship night was also graced by Jose Rizal Pangilinan, Regional Director for World Scout Bureau – Asia Pacific Region, BSP executive board members and scout commissioners and directors from the 118 scouting councils in the Philippines.
After the formal program, the scoutmasters were treated to a series of cultural performances by the Danggoan Pangasinan Cultural Dance Troupe. (PIO)
