BONUAN Boquig Elementary School emerged as this year’s Best Implementer of the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program, its first award since the implementation of the program eight years ago.

Manuel E. Ferrer, school principal,  said Bonuan Boquig’s gulayan sits on a 1,500-square meter land divided into three components for hydrophonic garden, aquaphonic garden and a bahay kubo garden which contains all the 18 kinds of vegetables mentioned in the folk  song bahay kubo.

Mayor Belen T. Fernandez personally handed the cash award of P20,000  to Ferrer during the 2014 Gulayan sa Paaralan Expo and Fair at the CSI the City Mall car park on March 15.

Fernandez has been supporting the program, starting when she was still a city councilor.
