MORE than 1,700 pupils from the city’s 43 day care centers graduated during mass recognition rites spearheaded by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez last March 20 at the CSI Stadia.

In her speech, Fernandez said it was former city social welfare officer Elsa Santillan who first asked her to support the day care centers and from then extended her support until she became a city councilor, vice-mayor and now City Mayor.

At present, the mayor, with the help of her family-owned CSI Group of Companies is helping more than 30 day care centers. It was only during her administration that the day care centers were finally given accreditation by the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office.
