Boy Scouts see role in nation-building
LINGAYEN—Boy Scouts from the Northern Luzon councils are being challenged to expand their minds and social awareness by drawing up a resolution each on what can be done to help in nation-building.
During the opening of their three-day Regional Scout Youth Forum last March 6 in Lingayen, Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) executives urged the young men to contribute to the development of the country by sharing their knowledge in the forum.
“This forum is for our scouts to identify issues concerning what is happening to our country, what is happening to our environment,” said Marcelo Cambod, Northern Luzon Regional Field Scout Executive.
Executive Assistant Ramon Morden, representing Governor Amado Espino Jr., encouraged the scouts to take the forum seriously as he noted that the scout movement is a good opportunity for them to contribute to the development of the youth and the nation as a whole.
“Sana makabuo tayo ng magandang mga bagay na makakabuti sa inyong lahat,” Morden said.
The forum, organized to provide scouts a better understanding of their role in nation-building “by drafting socially-significant resolutions,” was attended by more than a hundred selected scouts of the councils from north eastern and central Luzon, and Region 1.
The province will again host a scouting event, the 6th National Scout Venture Camp, on May 5-10, with about 4,000 participants expected to attend.–Johanne R. Macob
