Guv to Cojuangco: Let’s work for our people
IT’S not the proper time.
This was conveyed by Gov. Amado Espino Jr. in a paid newspaper advertisement in response to the recent declaration of former Congressman Mark Cojuangco on his intention to run for governor in 2016, a post that will be vacated by Espino.
Cojuangco made the announcement shortly after Espino delivered his State of the Province Address (SOPA) at the provincial capitol plaza last February 10.
He reiterated his previous statement that it is still too early to discuss politics today as the next election is still too far away.
Espino and Cojuangco are partymates in the Nationalist People’s Coaliation (NPC), a political party founded by the latter’s father, businessman Eduardo Cojuangco.
“Like what I said in my State of the Province Address on Feb. 10, where I asked that we must put politics aside yet so that we can concentrate in providing the needs of our people,” Espino said in his ad.
“We all should unite and help each other so that we can push for the greater development of our province,” he continued.
Espino stressed the need to ensure the continuing development of Pangasinan, adding that politics is often the cause of friction and a big stumbling block to unity and progress.
“Do not waste the time that should rather be spent in working for the needs and benefit of our people,” Espino urged his fellow politicians, stressing that his top priority is work rather than politics.
“It’s too early for that (politics) . We will face politics at the proper time,” he said, adding that when that time comes, “we are still united and that is the time we talk what our next moves will be.” — LVM
