Triathlon to spice up 2014 Bangus Festival

TOURISTS and visitors will be treated to another spectacle in this year’s Bangus Festival with the lst Bangus Festival Invitational Triathlon set on April 13.

Also called “Tri Bangus, Triathlon Race”, the 1.5 kilometer swimming-4k cycling-1.5k foot race event is organized in partnership with Team Bikestop.

“We are expecting 300 triathlets from different regions of the country and not to forget famous triathlete celebrities,” said Melvin Fausto, organizer and national triathlon coach.

“We are excited  to see Dagupan as one of the triathlon destinations in the Philippines,” he added.

The race will kick off  at the Tondaligan Beach Park  for swimming, then the participants will ride their bicycles along the  De Venecia Expressway Extension and around the city, and run on foot  from A.B. Fernandez Avenue in the downtown area to the CSI Stadia in Lucao.

The competition will also have a side event, the “Kids can Run Race”, for children six to 12 years old.
