Xentromart Bagsakan in Urdaneta opens
PANGASINAN’S BIGGEST AGRI-TRADE CENTER
URDANETA is where the action is.
The entry of Xentromart Bagsakan in Urdaneta City is expected to further boost the city’s status as a major trading center in the North.
Xentromart Bagsakan (XB), the considered biggest agri-trade center in Pangasinan, is expected not only to provide livelihood opportunities for residents, but generate additional revenues for the local government.
According to Manny V. Roy, general manager of XB, Urdaneta City Mayor Amadeo ‘Bobom’ Perez IV will lead the inauguration of the Bagsakan’s facilities on January 28.
Located at Consejo Street – the former cattle auction area in Urdaneta City, the Bagsakan features a trading facility for fruits, vegetables, meat and other commodities.
The trading area will be segregated based on product category to provide a healthier business competition and for the convenience of marketgoers and traders.
Some 144 vendor stalls (with a mezzanine) are available for vendors and commercial establishments.
A modern cold storage facility will soon be constructed to help traders keep their produce fresh, reduce spoilage that will help businessmen reduce operating costs. An integrated warehouse equipped with facilities for easy, safe and sanitary storage of products, and with a receiving office for each unit, will also soon be available.
GROWTH AREA
Xentromart Bagsakan is located in a 2.9 hectare area that once served as the cattle auction area of Urdaneta.
Farm produce and products from neighboring provinces such as Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela, Benguet (including Quirino. Quezon, Aurora and Mindoro) are being traded in the city.
The growing population of Urdaneta and the increasing number of consumers and traders flocking to the city has made it imperative for the city to support the creation of a new growth area in the city.
The mayor agreed with the investors for a modern Bagsakan as the logical response of the city to further expand trading activities in the city and also to help decongest traffic with a wider area for trade.
The presence of the Bagsakan is expected to free the sidewalks occupied by vendors and even give way to the transformation of two streets as alternative route going to Dagupan City.
The establishment of the Bagsakan will not only ease the flow of traffic at Aruego Street, Perez Extension, La Chica and Catlle Street where Baguio vegetables, onions, garlic and lowland vegetables are sold or traded but help the local government reduce collection expenses since the vendors will be located in a centralized area, unlike before where they were dispersed in several areas in the poblacion.
