THE processing of business permits at the Dagupan City One-Stop Business Center (OSBC) is faster than ever to the delight of the city’s traders and businessmen.

They noted that an applicant with the complete requirements now only takes 10 minutes to complete the process.

The OSBC houses all offices that issue the needed documents in securing business permits.

Mayor Belen Fernandez had introduced innovations in the OSBC systems that cut waiting time to secure and renew business permits.

Aside from improving efficiency at the OSBC, the usual fixers that used to teem in the area, especially during the renewal period, have vanished.

Some businessmen had reportedly complained to the mayor that fixers charged P15,000 in return for facilitating the early and quick issuance of permits.

Fernandez, meanwhile, commended the staff of the OSBC led by their chief Carmen Olpindo and her assistant Randolf Ubando for the positive feedback from taxpayers.

The lady mayor urged businessmen to report to her personally if they have been approached by fixers who may claim to have contacts with corrupt personnel at the OSBC or other departments of the city government.

Meanwhile, Fernandez expressed hope that the Sangguniang Panlungsod will approve a resolution proposed by her office to extend the deadline for securing business permit without penalty to February 20 this year.

Renewal of permits without penalty is until January 22.
