LINGAYEN—The Pangasinan Mayors League is set to craft a resolution asking the Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, the Interior and Local Government Secretary and President Benigno Aquino III to set into motion the process for appointing a provincial police director.

Dasol Mayor Noel Nacar, the league president, said the 44 town mayors and three city mayors are alarmed that nobody is permantently responsible for the performance of the police provincial command.

Nacar said the group will meet this week to finalize the resolution that will be addressed to PNP Chief Director General Alan Purisima, Interior Secretary Mar Roxas and the President.

“It looks odd… we don’t even know if we have an officer-in-charge,” said Nacar.

“It doesn’t matter who they are going to appoint… what’s important is there is somebody in charge of the overall situation for security purposes of our towns and cities,” he added.
