Jan. 12 is Bugallon Day

BUGALLON—One of the heroes of the Philippine revolution, Col.  Jose Torres Bugallon, after whom this town was named, will be commemorated today, January 12, for his bravery and heroism in the fight against colonialism.

A thanksgiving mass is set at the Espino Gym in the morning, to be followed by a civic parade around the town, formerly known as Salasa.

The highlight of the parade is a man riding a horse, depicting  Bugallon as he led his troops to battles.

Mayor Jumel Espino will lead the celebration for the town’s hero who died while fighting the Americans who wanted to cross their line in Caloocan.

Espino will lead the wreath laying at the foot of the the statue of Torres Bugallon located in the town proper, then a commemorative program will follow.

In the afternoon, friendly games in basketball and volleyball will be held with four teams competing, representing the local government unit of Bugallon, Department of Eucationd 1, DepEd2 and DepEd HighSchool Department.–Charissa Cerezo
