Espino gives Pangasinan veterans medical assistance
LINGAYEN—At least 500 World War II Pangasinan veterans including their sons and daughters and surviving spouses availed of the medical mission conducted by the Provincial Health Office as part of the activities of the 69th Lingayen Gulf Landings and the 7th Pangasinan Veterans’ Day celebration held on January 9 at the Pangasinan Veterans’ Memorial Park here.
Dr. Anna Ma. Teresa S. De Guzman, provincial health officer, said the Pangasinan veterans and some members of their families were served by eight doctors and other medical staff and provided with free medicines.
The war veterans expressed elation over the gifts and tokens they received aside from the surprise incentive of P2, 000 for each veteran as earlier announced by Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr.
The celebration commemorated the Lingayen Gulf Landings on January 9 and the heroism of the WW II veterans who fought side-by-side with the allied forces to regain the country’s freedom from the Japanese army.
Espino said, “we want to let them know that we remember them.”
