Couple, grandson electrocuted by hanging live wire
BOLINAO—A couple and their grandson died due to electrocution from a hanging live high tension wire with 13,000 volts that fell on the road due to strong winds overnight.
The three victims were on board a motorcycle and traversing the road in Barangay Ilog Malino here at around 7:45 a.m. on December 18 when the tragedy happened.
Chief Inspector Marcus Anod, police chief here, identified the fatalities as Elmer Odero, 54, former barangay kagawad, his wife Jing Odero, 54, a barangay health worker, and Meljim Munar, 3.
The live wire, owned by the Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (Panelco), came in contact with the motorcycle and caused it to ignite and burst in flames, killing the three on the spot.
Anod, quoting a source from Panelco, said the company has vowed to extend help to the victims’ family.
