Manileño riders in 1-2 finish at Puto Festival cycling
ROMEO Camingao and Reynald Trinidad, both from Manila, did not allow Pangasinan’s bets to dominate in their own turf by conquering the Calasiao Puto Festival Cycling Challenge last December 18 that started and ended at the host town Calasiao.
Camingao and Trinidad of the visiting Excellent Noodles team and local bet Ricky Zabala of Laoac pulled away from the big bunch of 72 participants just 24 kilometers after Mayor Mark Roy Macanlalay flagged them off.
The duo left Zabala in the last 15 kilometers and never looked back all the way to the finish. The two clocked the relatively flat 110-kilometer ride in two hours, 58 minutes and 28 seconds.
Manaoag stalwart Jovy Jovellanos outsprinted the second pack of 45 riders to land third.
The 50-59 year-old category was won by Mon Nicolas Sr. of San Manuel with another Manileño rider Ysmael Gendrano and Urdaneta City native Hector Padilla coming in second and third, respectively. Alex Jugo of San Fabian topped the 60-and-above division towing foreign rider William Bloom of Netherland for second and Jugo’s town mate Benjamin Juguilon for third.
The 40 and-above bikefest was primarily sponsored by Excellent Noodles and backed up by 2nd District Rep. Leopoldo N. Bataoil and Engr. Rodolfo Dion.–JAGJr.
