LINGAYEN—The history book on Pangasinan, a subject that will be incorporated in the curriculum of schools in the province, is nearing completion and distribution could be ready for the next school year.

Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim Jr., in an interview on Monday last week, said the provincial government is hoping to sign a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Education (DepEd) by January of February next year for the use of the book.

He said that Education Secretary Armin Luistro has expressed support for the project.

“He even thanked the governor for initiating the project, which is part of the K-12 program,” Calimlim said.

The book, being prepared by the Pangasinan Historical and Cultural Commission, will contain the province’s history, culture, and data on the province’s economic-socio development.
Meanwhile, Calimlim also announced that the provincial government is working to obtain more historical information by setting up a Historical and Cultural Commission in every town and city.–Johanne R. Macob
