Job fairs set Dec. 18-19 in Lingayen

LINGAYEN—Two more job recruitment events have been set by the Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO) on December 18 and 19 as demand for workers in local companies increased with the onset of the Christmas season.

PESO Manager Alex Ferrer said Shaso Int’l Manpower Services, Inc. will hold recruitment for skilled workers and household workers for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the 18th while OPTIS will recruit production operators on the 19th.

As of November 15, some 8,000 Pangasinenses have been placed and deployed by the province through PESO.  

Among those hired include workers for Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction Phils, Inc., Maxim De Humana Int’l, Inc. for domestic foreign placement.

YOLANDA VICTIMS

Meanwhile, the Department of Labor and Employment-Regional Office (DOLE 1) is expediting the processing of applications by victims of Typhoon Yolanda for placement in vacancies in Pangasinan under its “Tulong Trabaho Para sa mga Biktima ng Bagyong Yolanda”.

The San Vicente Dressing Plant (SVDP) in San Jacinto already announce will open jobs for typhoon victims.

DOLE 1 Regional Director Grace Ursua said other companies have already signified willingness to hire victims of the recent calamity.

“We are overwhelmed by the strong sense of social responsibility shown by the Kenwood Holdings and other local employers.  Any employment assistance from them is very much welcome in light of the dire need for the victims to start anew,” Ursua remarked.

To qualify, applicants must be victims of Typhoon Yolanda as duly certified by the Department of Social Welfare and Development or the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, at least 18 years old, high school graduate preferably with two-year college education.
