Widow arrested for illegal drugs; aunt bribes cops
DAGUPAN CITY–A widow from Sitio Aling in Barangay Pantal here was caught by the police for drug pushing in a buy-bust operation on December 10.
The suspect, Natalia Ortiz, 50, was arrested when she handed one plastic sachet of shabu in exchange for P500 marked money to a police officer who acted as buyer, assisted by a confidential informant.
While the policemen were arresting Ortiz, her aunt identified only as a certain “Sison” tried to bribe the police poseur buyer with P5,000 for the release of the suspect.
The aunt was then likewise arrested and the two suspects were brought to the Region 1 Medical Center for medico legal examination and later lodged at the Dagupan City Police jail.
Ortiz will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, the Dangerous Drugs Act, while a case for violation of the Corruption of Public Officials law is now being prepared against Sison.
