Pangasinan opens doors to Yolanda victims

CALASIAO–Victims of Typhoon Yolanda in the Visayas who want to relocate in Pangasinan are welcome and can be given employment opportunities by several local businesses.

This was bared by the region’s Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) at tits recent jobs fair last December 6.

Some 100 vacancies were immmediately offered for the calamity survivors during the fair held at the Robinsons Place here.

DOLE Director for Region 1 Grace Ursua said the agency tied-up with Kenwood Holdings (Group of Companies) for this project called “Tulong Trabaho” to help the typhoon victims and their Pangasinense relatives who will host them.

“Beyond emergency relief, people from the devastated areas need assistance which will help them rebuild their lives and their communities; they need jobs, they need sources of income to get them back on track,” said Ursua.

Kenwood Holdings will hire truck drivers and helpers, office personnel, checkers, quality control technicians, processing crew, cashiers and maintenance mechanics for its San Vicente Dressing Plant (SVDP) in San Jacinto town.

Meanwhile, DOLE will hold another jobs fair on December 10 at the Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO) in Lingayen as part of the agency’s 80th foundation anniversary celebration.

“Sitel Philippines, a telemarketing and outsourcing business, will offer vacancies for customer and technical service representatives,” said Ursua. (PIA1-Pangasinan/AMM)
