Binyagan ng Bayan held in Dagupan
MORE than 700 babies were baptized during the annual “Binyagan ng Bayan sa Dagupan” held December 3 at the St. John the Evangelist Cathedral.
Priests of the Lingayen-Dagupan Archdiocese led by Archbishop Socrates Villegas administered the baptism rite organized by the Dagupan City government and sponsored since 2007 by the CSI Group of Companies owned by the family of Mayor Belen Fernandez.
Fernandez said this is her yearly Christmas gift to children whose parents could not afford to have them baptized due to poverty.
As in previous years, Fernandez also gave a noche buena package to each of the children’s families as well as boxes of baby food cereals and socks from Promina.–Eva Visperas
