Campaign for proper nutrition launched
THE National Nutrition Council Region I (NNC-1) in cooperation with the Kapisanan ng mga Broadcaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) Pangasinan Chapter and Regional Organization on Nutrition Development Advocates (RONDA) launched an outreach project dubbed “RONDA sa Barangay” last December 3 at the Barangay Bonuan Gueset Gym in Dagupan.
Rose Lulu Pagaduan, OIC- Nutrition Program Coordinator of NNC-1, said the program aims to promote the importance of good nutrition among the identified nutritionally at-risk groups in the barangay.
About 74 mothers of malnourished children, including lactating and pregnant women, beneficiaries of the government’s cash-transfer program and indigents participated in the event.
Bonuan Gueset was chosen as first barangay beneficiary for the project out of the 3,100 barangays in the region because of the reported high prevalence of malnutrition in the community.
Bernie Errasquin, RONDA chairman and DZMQ Manager, said the information drive is in support to the national government’s campaign to end hunger and malnutrition in the country. (PIA1-Pangasinan/ MCA/EMS)
