BINMALEY–Two men are facing a swindling case before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor in Lingayen for pulling a con act on the parents of a seaman based here.

Charged are Richard Belocura, resident of 20A Rizal Ave., Extension, Cebu City and Ignacio Manuel, employee of Friendly Maritime Services Inc., Suite 909, Global Corporate Center, 3 Julia Vargas Ave., Ortigas, Center, Pasig City.

The two suspects allegedly called Tolentino Grantusa and Lucena Bautista, residents of Barangay San Isidro Norte this town, on November 27 and asked them to remit P200,000 for the hospitalization of their son Anthony Grantusa.

The suspects spinned a story that Anthony, a seaman working abroad, is in comatose in Cebu City after allegedly killing their ship’s captain.

The parents were convinced and sent the suspects P200,000 through money remittance at LBC, which Belocura withdrew at an LBC Cebu branch on Nov. 27.—Eva Visperas
