2nd District residents get rice aid
LINGAYEN–The Taiwan Association Inc. Philippines (TAP) led by its president, Wayne Chi, in cooperation with Second District Rep. Leopoldo Bataoil, distributed hundreds of bags of rice to the district’s poor.
TAP provided 100 bags of rice from Taiwan to each of the eight municipalities in the district, namely: Lingayen, Binmaley, Bugallon, Aguilar, Labrador, Mangatarem, Basista, and Urbiztondo.
Bataoil said the donation is in aid of those affected by typhoons in the area this year.
The Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office of each town took charge in identifying the priority recipients.
“We always like to be close to you guys, hopefully this relationship can last forever,” said TAP Vice President Cheng Cheng Lee.
The association previously donated wheelchairs and relief packs and conducted a computer-based livelihood training program for students in the province.
TAP, founded in 1980, is a group of Taiwanese businessmen in the Philippines geared at providing assistance not only among its members but also to local communities.–Johanne R. Macob
