24/7 free calls reactivated for OFWs in Saudi
LINGAYEN—The Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO) has reactivated its free calls program at the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) Desk, on a 24/7 basis for the benefit of the families of OFWs, particularly those in Saudi Arabia.
PESO Manager Alex Ferrer assured Pangasinenses working in the Kingdom Saudi Arabia (KSA) that the provincial government is ready to assist those needing assistance for their return trip to the Philippines following the implementation of the ‘Saudization’ policy.
“We still don’t have the exact number of Pangasinenses working in Saudi Arabia, but we have already requested for the data the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA),” said Ferrer, making an estimate of at least 10,000.
Ferrer said in addition to the financial and livelihood assistance to be provided by the OWWA once the OFWs get back to the country, the provincial government will also provide assistance to each OFW needing more help or guidance.
Ferrer said he doesn’t expect the same problems seen with the returning OFWs from Libya with those returning from Saudi.
“They may not need financial assistance since they had prepared for this but they may need some guidance for investments,” he said.
