MAYOR Belen Fernandez congratulated all the winners in the just concluded barangay election in 31 villages of Dagupan and for helping keep the peace in their respective communities.

She said she looks forward to working with them to improve the situation and uplift the life of their constituents.

The mayor said she will talk to Department of Interior and Local Government City Director Roderick Dawis to organize a seminar for the newly elected and re-elected barangay captains to orient them on their duties and obligations so they can be more effective.

Most importantly, there is a need for these officials to be re-oriented about budget preparations to ensure smooth implementation of programs and projects, Fernandez said.

She reminded the newly elected and re-elected barangay officials to learn the bottom-up budgeting which the city government has adopted in line with the guidelines set by DILG.

She thanked the police, the military and all stakeholders for making the barangay election in Dagupan the most peaceful ever.
