6,000 scouters to join the BSP Regional Jamboree
LINGAYEN— – -More than 6,000 scouters from the province and from other provinces in the region and Central Luzon will troop to the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) Regional Jamboree on October 19 to 23 at the economic-tourism zone in Estanza, Lingayen.
Ramon M. Morden, executive assistant IV and scout regional commissioner for public relations, said that the province is anticipating more scouters to attend judging by the enthusiasm expressed by the various council regional executives.
Morden said since Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr assumed office, the scouting movement has been receiving a lot of support. Espino was an active scout leader during his time.
The executive assistant said that the present leadership has set its sights on developing every young Pangasinense to become part of the movement as an integral part of one’s social growth.
Various activities of the jamboree include tree planting, lectures, and training on self-defense particularly arnis, knot-tying and water and rescue.
Formal opening ceremony will kick off on October 19 (Saturday) at 5 p.m.
The Espino administration has been successful in promoting the movement over the years as evidenced by the various projects initiated. The most recent was the construction of the BSP building, which was inaugurated last week.
The two-storey building is located along Maramba Boulevard in a 1,000 square meter lot.
Leading the blessing and inauguration of the building were Board member Nestor “Nicky Boy” Reyes, Provincial Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (PHUDCC) Chief Alvin Bigay, Morden and the various regional council executives. (PIO/Ruby R. Bernardino)
