LINGAYEN—Locals and tourists could soon enjoy a stroll at the Lingayen Baywalk with the completion of the project expected by the end of October.

“We expect the project to be completed by the end of October as long as the weather is good,” said District Engineer Elpidio Paragas, citing concreting as the only remaining task.

The project is funded from Buhay Party-List’s priority development assistance fund (PDAF) as requested by 2nd District Rep. Leopoldo Bataoil in cooperation with the provincial government.

The project’s three phases, which cost about P28 million, involves a two-kilometer pavement along the coast of the Lingayen beach, which will serve not just as a walkway but as breakwater.

According to Bataoil, the structure is being eyed to be developed eventually into an alternate coastal road from Lingayen to Binmaley.

The pavement measures 6.70 meters wide with a 2.5-meter shouldering on both sides for landscaping.–Johanne R. Macob
