WITH help from the Pangasinan Brotherhood-United States of America, Inc. (PB-USA), a wider range of Pangasinan products can find a ready market in the United States.

This was conveyed by the group’s president, Eddie Ferrer, during a trade seminar for local entrepreneurs organized by PB-USA organized last September 21 in Dagupan City.

Encouraging to potential exporters, he said there are a number of US companies that are interested in importing various merchandise from the Philippines that include religious articles, toys, kitchenware, hardware, and agriculture goods.

At the same time, PB-USA forged a partnership with the provincial government to find markets for Pangasinan products in the US and other countries.

Ferrer, also the owner of E.C. Ferrer Customs Broker, Inc. based in Longbeach, California, said he has already talked with about 100 companies in the import business, some of which are owned by PB-USA members.

“Most of these companies are willing to extend their technologies,” said Ferrer, stressing that local producers need not have big capitals to pursue the export business.

To further save on costs, he proposed that local producers organize to ship their various products in just one container.

Ferrer also announced that a US businessman has signified an intention to relocate his business to Southeast Asia, possibly the Philippines and Pangasinan in particular.

“Such will further generate livelihood for the province, in case,” he said.

Board Member Ranjit Shahani, who also addressed the seminar participants, said the provincial government is keen on attracting as many investments as possible”

Meanwhile, the provincial government represented by Provincial Administrator Rafael Howard Baraan, guaranteed its support to the Pangasinan entrepreneurs.

He reminded the participants to ensure the production of quality goods to merit “Pangasinan’s Best” brand.

Baraan also underscored the need for the completion of the Port of Sual as a complement to the development of the export industry.—with report from Johanne R. Macob
