SP forms committee for boundary disputes
LINGAYEN— The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) recently adopted a resolution to create a special committee that will handle boundary disputes between Pangasinan and its neighbor provinces
The resolution cites in particular two existing boundary disputes: one involving Pangasinan’s San Nicolas town with Sta. Fe in Nueva Vizcaya over the “Little Baguio” village in Barangay Malico; and the other between Sison, Pangasinan and Tuba, Benguet over six villages, including Barangay Alibeng where the Northern Cement Plant is located.
“There is a need therefore to validate the dividing line of the localities of the Province to clear up confusion on boundaries within and outside of the province,” reads Provincial Resolution No. 111-2013.
Aside from these two disputes, the special committee will also be tasked to determine the actual boundary lines between provinces and municipalities to avoid future cases.
The committee is composed of Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim Jr. (chairman), SP member Alfonso Bince Jr. (vice chairman), and SP members Antonio Sison, Nestor Reyes, Angel Baniqued Jr., Mojamito Libunao Jr., Clemente Arboleda Jr. and Ranjit Shahani.– Johanne R. Macob
