SPO4 from Basista among top COPS

LINGAYEN—Who said dedication to duty is not acknowledged publicly?

Senior Police Officer4 (SPO4) Teofilo Siao Juanata Jr., a son of Basista, has been on the job for a quarter of a century.

And his untiring dedication to his duty as a police officer over those 25 years has been given recognition by being named among the 2013 Metrobank Foundation’s Country’s Outstanding Police Officers in Service (COPS).

Juanata, who won under the Non-Commissioned Officers Category, held different responsibilities, including being team leader and arresting officer of several most wanted persons in different parts of the country.

“The accomplishments of SPO4 Juanata in displaying a high level of performance and excellence in public service is worthy of emulation among Pangasinenses who aspire to become successful policemen someday,” reads a resolution passed last week by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to honor him for the award.

Designated as Police Community Relation Police Non-Commissioned Officer at the Pangasinan Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Juanata was responsible for the arrest of at least eight in the list of the country’s Most Wanted Persons, including Andito Cadusale and Dionisio Panogaling, who were tagged as the No. 1 Most Wanted Person in Mandaue City and   No. 2 Most Wanted Person in Region VII respectively.

He was also responsible for the arrest of Jose Christian San Pedro, a notorious leader of the Starex Carnapping Gang operating in Cebu, Metro Manila and Central Luzon.

Juanata’s dedication to duty was recognized by then PNP Chief Avelino Razon for the resolution of the case of PO2 Eugenio Ferido, a member of PNP Special Action Force, when he arrested Joel Arcena, one of Ferido’s killers, in Vigan, Ilocos Sur in September 2004.

Juanata has also led several projects and activities in the community to prevent crimes, including the holding of dialogues with the Muslim residents of Bonuan in Dagupan City on drug problems in the area. Other projects he was involved in are blood letting activity, dental and medical mission, and environmental protection-related initiatives.

Juanata, the provincial board said, “has autographed his work with excellence in his chosen field of career”.

The other non-commissioned awardees were SPO1 Edgardo A.Figuracion II (Zamboanga del Sur), SPO1 Raquel R. Aniwasal (Batangas), SPO2 Oscar M. Angeles, Jr. (Marikina City), SPO2 Rodito T. Viovicente (Lapu Lapu City) and SPO1 Eduardo G. Covarrubias (Zamboanga City). – Johanne R. Macob and Eva Visperas
