MANGALDAN–A retired Lt. Colonel of the Philippine Army was shot dead by unidentified suspects riding in tandem on a motorcycle along Amansec Road in Barangay Buenlag here at past noon of September 12 for a still unknown motivation.

The fatality was identified as Adelio Amansec, 64, who was shot while at a sari-sari store in the village.

Amansec sustained multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of his body and died on the spot.

The suspects, on board a red-and-black Honda Wave motorcycle, immediately fled the scene towards an undetermined direction.

Mobile patrol units from the Mangaldan police immediately conducted hot pursuit operation while a team set up a checkpoint at the possible escape route of the fleeing suspects, but the suspects were not caught.

Investigation of the case is ongoing.
