ALCALA—Second District Rep. Leopoldo N. Bataoil rallied Filipino veterans to continue serving even in their retirement as a formula for healthy living.

Bataoil, a former police deputy director-general, urged the veterans to translate their experience and wisdom to help advance the country’s socio economic progress when he was guest of honor and speaker at the Armed Forces of the Philippines Veteran Retirees Association’ (AFPREVA) 59th founding anniversary at Camp Aguinaldo last August 31.

At the same time, he extolled the veterans’ heroic deeds in repelling foreign invaders and in playing advisory roles in development work for Philippine communities in times of peace.

Among Bataoil’s projects is a retirees’ hall in the district.

Meanwhile, former National Press Club director and The PUNCH columnist Jun Velasco called on AFPREVA members to do “missionary work to inculcate love of country and to honor and love God.”

He asked the veterans to wage a “love revolution to expel greed, hatred and anti poor practices in our country.”
