Province’s sports program kicks off Oct. 7
LINGAYEN–The Anguan tan Ehersisyo ed Kapitolyo Year 4, the province’s sports program for its employees, will officially start on October 7.
This was announced by Modesto Operania, provincial sports director, after he convened all team chairpersons and designated sports coordinator for a coordination meeting to ensure the success of this year’s sports activity.
More than P200,000 in cash prizes plus trophies are at stake in various sports events, which include lawn tennis, table tennis, badminton, basketball, volleyball, tug of war, chess, cheering, fun run and the selection of muse.
Seven clustered teams will be competing in the games that will culminate on November 22.
These are the Warriors, Financiers, Generals, Builders, PPH Benchmark, Medics and Legislators, which are composed of the clustered department offices and provincial-owned hospitals.
The assigned chairperson and uniform motif for each team are: Malou Utanes, provincial treasurer (The Financier-Violet); Col. Rolando Diaz (The Generals-Orange); Engr. Victor C. Punay (The Builders-Light Blue); and Ramon Morden (The Warriors-Yellow).
Other team coordinators include Dr. Policarpio Manuel (PPH Benchmark-Black); Dra. Anna Marie de Guzman (The Medics-Fuschia Pink) and Vice Gov. Ferdinand Calimlim (The Legislators-White)
Several committees have been created such as Committee on Appeals headed by Provincial Administrator Rafael Howard Baraan, Committee on Medical Team headed by Dra. De Guzman, provincial health officer, and Committee on Peace and Order headed by Col. Diaz, OIC General Services Office.
The technical working group is headed by Operania together with Provincial Information Officer Orpheus M. Velasco as assistant chairperson.
Initiated by Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr., the activity serves as a venue for the provincial employees to stay healthy and physically fit while giving them respite from their daily work routines.
Apart from this, the provincial employees are also members of the Healthy Habit Club wherein they are provided with free medical services every month. (Merly R. Tibalao/PIO)
