Cenpelco cuts off power of Cerezo’s house, resto
NO sacred cows.
This was emphasized by the Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (Cenpelco) when it disconnected electricity from a restaurant and the mansion of a former mayor of Binmaley and the house of a barangay chairman who is also an area director of Cenpelco in Binmaley.
Service was disconnected at the Bangsal Restaurant and Lechon House and the residence of former Binmaley Mayor Lorenzo Cerezo in Barangay Biec, and for the house of Chairman Douglas de los Angeles of Barangay Balogo last August 1.
The Bangsal Lechon House has accumulated unpaid bills of P1.2 million as of July 2013 while the Cerezo house has dues of P82,607.
De los Angeles, on the other hand, has outstanding dues of P47,633.
Cenpelco was recently chided for its delayed action against a former town official whose family was not dutifully paying their electric bills.
Cerezo and De los Angeles were given final disconnection notices on July 25 and were given within seven days to settle their delinquencies but they did not comply.
Joaquin Resultan, sub-area office administrator of Cenpelco based in Binmaley, said Marissa Cerezo, wife of the former mayor, earlier questioned alleged discrepancies in the billing of Cenpelco and has stopped paying electricity from April 2012.
Resultan said Cenpelco is stepping up the dispatch of disconnection notices to delinquent consumers so the cooperative can cope with its mounting obligations.
