1ST DCNHS INTERBATCH BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
THE battle for supremacy in the ‘80s category heats up with unbeaten teams Batch ’82 and Batch’88 slugging it out to be the top squad among 21 alumni teams in the elimination round of the 1st DCNHS (Dagupan City National High School) Interbatch Basketball Tournament.
The face off game will be today July 7 at the Dagupan Astrodome after the 1p.m. tussle between Batch ’10 and Batch ’06.
Tournament founder and DCNHS Alumni President Atty. Liberato Reyna commended the players for giving their hearts out in every game. He cited the game between batch ’95 and’90 that went into double overtime, as the players from both teams fought like it was a title match.
“Singa met NBA championship series,” Reyna notes, “ta close fight, amiduay overtime.”
Batch ’95, led by its president and also an active team player, Atty. Michael Datario, finally prevailed, 81-75.
In the battle of unbeaten teams, Batch ’82 coach Bong Amado vowed their team will prove that ‘age does not matter’ as he is confident top scorers Elvino Maramba and Chris Camara will outgun the scoring duo of Abet Joson and Jun Baad of batch ’88, coached by Rafael Daroy and Zaldy Dela Carcel assisted by Victor Abule.
Batch ’88 president and team manager Rey Caburnay and assistant Joel Loresco are also pinning their hopes on the hot hands of Mamerto Patungan, Gilbert Villafania, and Melanio Soy.
