THE location for the planned fish port in Dagupan City is now being studied after the bill proposing its creation has been approved by both houses of Congress.

Humahanap pa sila ng lugar pero magkakaroon na tayo ng fish port,” said Fourth District Representative Gina De Venecia, author of the bill.

“I would have to talk to Mayor-elect Belen Fernandez for the details of the project,” De Venecia said, adding that they are targeting to have the port in place by 2014.

The fish port is planned to complement the seafood processing plant, built through a South Korean government funding in Bonuan Binloc in Dagupan.

Tamang-tama we have the seafood processing plant, lahat ng papasok na mga seafood meron ng lalagyan at meron ng storage,” De Venecia said.

MORINGA

Meanwhile, De Venecia also reiterated her goal of promoting malunggay (moringa oleifera) plant to be the National Vegetable of the Philippines.

“It’s so rich in vitamin C, mura, madaling patubuin, at may kikitain ang ating mga kababayan,” she said.

A malunggay processing plant will soon be underway in either San Fabian or San Jacinto town, with the budget of Php5-10 million already allocated.

“This will give a lot of work to the whole fourth district,” she said.

De Venecia said the project would encourage every household to plant malunggay and bring these for processing at the plant.–Johanne R. Macob
