Student leaders take over city hall

DAGUPAN City officials led by Acting Mayor Belen Fernandez stepped aside for a week to give way to 52 students from public and private schools who took charge of the city from June 17 to 25 for the annual Manlingkor Na Kalangweran program, which is part of the Agew na Dagupan celebration.

Led by Juliane Go as Young City Mayor and Hermie Timario as Young City Vice Mayor, the students served as officials of the city, giving them a hands-on training in governance.

The Manlingkor Na Kalangweran is a yearly program of the Department of Education and the Dagupan City government to expose the youth at an early age in public service.

The 10 young city councilors are Patricio Co, Pete Rowen Fernandez, Cirrwin Aquino, Nicole Melendez, Althea Marie Tan, Marlou Tulia, Marcel Kyle Novales, Marc Harry Callejo and Renzo Kouki Suratos.

The Young City President of Liga ng Barangay is Sophia Anne Braganza while the Young City President of Sangguniang Kabataan is Jearon Tandico.
