NEW NEO-NATAL AND MATERNAL CARE UNITS—A newborn screening (NBS) test is conducted on a baby who was delivered inside the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital in San Carlos City to identify any genetic/metabolic/infectious conditions affecting the infant.  NBS test is among the early health care interventions being practiced by government-owned hospitals to reduce child mortality rate and enable children reach their full potential.  Under the administration of Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr., the provincial government constructed new structures for neo-natal and maternal care units, which attracted more mothers to deliver their babies in the provincial hospitals.  (PIO Photo by Jun Moran)
