Still no leads on Bugallon massacre

BUGALLON–A Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) created by the police is still facing a blank wall in connection with the massacre of a family of five behind a subdivision in Barangay Poblacion here early dawn of June 8.

SITG headed by Senior Supt. Marlou Chan, police provincial director, is still following up leads that could identify the perpetrators in the brutal mass slaying.

The victims were identified as Rommel Ramoran, 3, his son Jomer, 17, his brothers Ronald Ramoran, 34, and Ernesto Ramoran, 49, and their cousin Albert Martinez, 25, all natives of Paitan, Sual but living in a shanty located on a vacant lot.

The wife of Rommel, Maxima, and their son Joel, 14, managed to untie themselves and ran away before they could also be executed.

Investigators said eight to 10 hooded and armed men barged into the house of victims while they were eating their late supper.

The intruders held them at gunpoint then tied the hands and feet of Jomer and Albert with the use of plastic straps before hacking their heads with the use of a bladed instrument.

When Rommel, Ernesto and Ronald attempted to fight back, they were shot by the suspects, hitting them in different parts of their bodies.

They were all dead on the spot while the suspects fled to an unknown direction.

Lawmen hinted possible revenge as the motive because Rommel had just served his sentence for robbery and acts of lasciviousness.

The victims were suspected to be members of an Akyat Bahay gang and engaged in cattle rustling, robbery and other illegal activities and a police officer theorized that their cohorts in their illegal activities may have executed the victims after they cheated them of their due share of the loot.
