THE Xentromart in Urdaneta City, a 30,000-square meter-trading center for fresh produce, will soon start operations, initially with 144 stalls out of the total 264 stalls ready for occupancy by July.

Official opening is scheduled on August 15, according to Engr. Willy Decena, president of Urdaneta Xentromart, Inc. which owns and operates the trading center located at the city’s old livestock market.

The bagsakan, a local term that denotes a place where wholesale trading is conducted, will have facilities not just for buying and selling but also for the storage of meat, fish, fruits, vegetables and grains.

“Xentromart features modern facilities for traders such as closed circuit security system to prevent theft and pilferage, provide security for buyers, and enable traders to monitor their inventory,” said Decena.

It will also have a 2nd floor area where stall owners can rest as trading operations is on a 24-hour basis.

“The rooms have their own sanitation facilities for their convenience,” Decena said.

Xentromart General Manager Manny Roy said the trading center, costing P250 million, is expected to “further boost the economic growth of Urdaneta City, which is now the premier trading center in Pangasinan, and even in Region 1… It will also provide other traders who have no more space in Urdaneta.”

He added that it will “help decongest traffic partly due to traders who conduct their business on the streets and even sidewalks – and also to help in the cleanliness campaign of administration of Mayor Bobom Perez.”

EFFICIENT

Meanwhile, Atty. Liberato C. Reyna Jr., chairman of the Urdaneta Xentromart, assured traders of “professional management for efficient and effective operations for their convenience and conducive conduct of their business.”

A system of unloading, storage and loading will also be employed to ensure the speedy disposition of goods.

Reyna, owner of warehouses that cater to multinational companies, said the loading system will ensure the speedy delivery of goods to intended markets.
