National bridges turn “safety orange”

By May 19, 2013Inside News, News

NATIONAL bridges in Pangasinan, as in the rest of the country, are being painted “safety” orange, an international engineering color commonly used for warning signs.

Engineer Rodolfo Dion, head of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Second Engineering District, said they have finished painting with international orange the Dawel Bridge in Barangay Bonuan Gueset in Dagupan and the Tobuan Bridge in Labrador town.

Next will be Padilla Bridge in Barangay Balococ and the San Jose Bridge, both in the capital town Lingayen.

Others in line are the Mangarinday Bridge in Barangay Binloc, Dagupan City following its massive repair.

DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson issued an order last year on the standard paint color for DPWH steel bridges.

Singson’s order said this is to provide for a uniform color that will identify DPWH steel bridges.

Other bridges are through the initiative of local government units.

The safety or international orange color used the code CMYK (0,72,77,24).–Eva Visperas
