MALASIQUI—Incoming 3rd District Rep. Rosemarie “Baby” Arenas, mother of outgoing Rep. Ma. Rachel Arenas, vowed to carry on with the projects initiated by her daughter and at the same time, gave a heads up on how different she will be.

“My daughter and I are different from each other. She is very peaceful but I am not that peaceful… We are really different and it would continue to be that way but I will continue all the projects of Congresswoman Rachel Arenas,” said the elder Arenas who ran unopposed but still got an overwhelming number of votes at more than 93,000.

Arenas, known in the social circle and for her philanthropic work, said she could not just shut her mouth if she sees wrongdoings and people being oppressed.

“Maybe I would be needing battery of volunteer lawyers. They’re all welcome,” she said.

Arenas said she would work hard to finish the multi-million bridge project started by her daughter that connects the 2nd and 3rd Districts in Aguilar town.

“Now you have a mother, a kapuso, kabaleyan, kapamilya, kapatid who will fight for you in Congress,” Arenas added.

She also stressed that her daughter will still be helping the district even after she steps down.

“You voted for one candidate but the two of us will serve you,” the mother said.—Eva Visperas
