After Orduña, Perez “gets” a grenade

A GRENADE was found in front of the house of Urdaneta Mayor Amadeo Gregorio “Bobom” Perez IV, a day after his birthday and two days after he hosted a luncheon for President Benigno Aquino III who was in town for the election campaign.

The grenade had a pulled pin but unexploded and no one was hurt nor any reported damage.

No motive by anyone was immediately established for the incident.

The ruling Liberal Party, in a statement, condemned the attack but stopped short of again naming the camp of Gov. Amado Espino Jr. who is running for re-election under the opposing Nationalist People’s Coalition.

“We, in the Liberal Party, join our fellow Pangasinenses in expressing our anger over this latest outbreak of violence that target incumbent mayors of the province,” the LP said in a statement.

Last April 24, an unidentified person also lobbed a grenade on Bugallon Mayor Rodrigo Orduña’s compound.

No one was also reported injured in the incident but the LP accused Espino’s camp for the threat.

Orduna joined the LP after severing ties with Espino and filing plunder charges before the Office of the Ombudsman against the governor for allegedly pocketing more than P900 million from proceeds of jueteng operations in Pangasinan.
