Lingayen-Binmaley by-pass road inaugurated
LINGAYEN — President Benigno S. Aquino III inaugurated on Thursday the Lingayen-Binmaley by-pass road that will greatly reduce travel time between Dagupan City and the province’s western towns.
In a simple ceremony held in Barangay Quibaol here, Aquino led the inaugural drive-through 1.65-kilometer road, which skips the usual traffic gridlock in downtown Binmaley and Lingayen.
The President, on board a red pick-up vehicle, was joined by Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio Singson and other national and local officials.
The P20-million project, started in May 2012 and completed March this year, was funded by the Special Road Support Fund, also known as the Motor Vehicle User’s Charge (MVUC).
Aquino pointed out to the audience that the road project was made possible by the proper utilization of taxes paid by the people.
Speaking in the Pangasinan language, the President said, “Anggapoy arom nen say sikayo so nangawa ed saya.”
Aquino also announced other infrastructure projects in Pangasinan which include the Poblacion- Kinayaoan road in Bani town, the Pangasinan-Zambales road, the Pangasinan-Tarlac road and the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway.—with report from PIA-Pangasinan
