BAYAMBANG – The Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan celebrated the 18th Archdiocesan Youth Day at the Our Mother of Perpetual Help Parish in Malasiqui last April 16-19 with the theme “Rejoice in the Lord always (Phil 4:4).”

This year’s event, an annual four-day recollection of youth from the different parishes of the archdiocese for “reception, renewal, recreation, and re-commissioning”, had 2,100 delegates, according to AYD secretariat committee head Geneva Viray.

The event also provides the Catholic youth the opportunity to interact with other young people, share their culture and heritage, discuss issues that concern the young and the rest of society, and identify solutions to address these problems.

On the 16th, delegates from the different parishes arrived at the campsite located in Malasiqui and a holy mass was celebrated by Archbishop Socrates B. Villegas, followed by street dancing and a parade of kuliglig floats featuring the participants’ unique cultures.

Lectures on the Catholic faith and the coming elections were conducted in the succeeding days, along with community immersion and other religious activities.–Frank Ferrer, UP Baguio
