Special non-working day in Dagupan on April 30
APRIL 30 will be a special non-working holiday in Dagupan as the city celebrates the main event for the two-week long Bangus Festival.
The declaration was issued last April 11 by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. by authority of President Benigno S. Aquino III through Proclamation No. 570 upon the request of Mayor Benjamin Lim.
“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the city of Dagupan be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies,” the proclamation reads.

BEYOND BANGUS
This year’s celebration, while still highlighting Bangus as the city’s most popular product, aims to promote Dagupan as the “Seafood Market Capital of the North”.
For this goal, a new event called “101 Ways to Cook Seafood” is being introduced as well as a Dragon Boat Race to feature the cleanliness of the city river, according to Councilor Alvin Coquiao, festival chairman, and his co-head organizer, Marianne Ang.
