More fun in Pista’y Dayat 2013

LINGAYEN–It’s all systems go for the celebration of Pista’y Dayat 2013 with fun-filled and exciting events being lined up to delight Pangasinenses and visitors this summer.

Dr. Anna Ma. Teresa S. De Guzman, chairman of this year’s celebration, said the provincial government endeavors to further its cause in promoting Pangasinan tourism, culture and tradition through environment-friendly activities.

De Guzman said this year’s Pista’y Dayat, being the Mother of All Festivals in the province, will be aimed at making not just Pangasinan proud but its neighboring provinces in Region 1 as well.

“We will be guided by the leadership of Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. so that Pista’y Dayat will not only serve as an event but make it as the province’s very own distinct celebration that will showcase the very best of Pangasinan,” she said.

The celebration kicked off with the presentation of the 25 official Limgas na Pangasinan candidates last April 8 followed by a courtesy call to the governor right after the regular flag-raising ceremony and press conference in the afternoon.

Selected Darling of the Press among the 25 equally lovely and witty candidates was 18 year-old Cynthia Caldona of Dagupan City.

Schedule of events for this year’s sea festival will include: Tourism and Trade Expo, Takayan Na Dayew (Vocal Solo Contest), San Miguel Beer Night, Beach Pinoy Games, Poster-Making Contest, Sayawan ed Aplaya, Search for Mr. and Ms. Sangguniang Kabataan, Doypuay Kalangweran 2013 (Youth Camp), Family Wellness Day, Sand Sculpting Contest, Banca Parada, Beach Volleybelles, Triathlon Invitational (Open), Paboksing Ed Gulpo and Coronation Night of Limgas na Pangasinan.

Pista’y Dayat 2013 will be officially observed from April 13 to May 1, the main celebration day. (PIO/Ruby R. Bernardino)
