DAGUPAN mayoralty candidate Belen Fernandez vowed to reopen city hall to all Dagupenos irrespective of their status in life, as she noted how the people that have less in life are being discriminated against under the present Lim administration.

This was stressed by Fernandez when the Gina-Belen-Michael team launched its campaign during a rally at the Bonuan Binloc gymnasium Wednesday night.

The other members of the team are Councilors Maybelyn Fernandez, Alfie Fernandez, Jeslito Seen and Karlos Reyna, former Councilor Jose Netu Tamayo and Alfredo Quinto, Saysi Samson, Marlyn Manaois Reyna, Marvin Fabia and Solo de Venecia.

Fernandez said she will bring city hall closer to the barangays,  a policy that she started by holding Sangguniang Panlungsod regular sessions in the barangays occasionally.

She said the policy enabled the city council to know and understand what was going on in the grassroots level.

She cited how the city council discovered the illegal structures at the beachfront when it held its session in Bonuan Binloc. The residents shared the information because the city council came to them, she said.

The subsequent investigation led the city council to discover about the existence letters of authority bearing the signature of Mayor Benjie Lim.

In that outside session, the SP also learned about the erosion that threatened the area where the Seafood Processing Plant is located.

A resolution was immediately passed, calling for help from Congresswoman Gina de Venecia who in turn immediately succeeded in getting the Department of Public Works and Highways to act on it.

Fernandez also vowed to help small fishermen who were removed by the city from the waterways.

She vowed transparency and accountability will be the guidepost of her administration consistent with the Matuwid na Daan advocacy of President Benigno Aquino III.
